On September 29, Mr. Gu, a head of a power station of a paper company in Tai'an City, Shandong Province, called to inform Yuchai that he had a YuchaiYC12VC1680N-D32 biogas genset, which using the world's advanced premixed low-pressure gas intake system. The genset had been running normally for more than 3,000 hours and needed maintenance within a time limit. He planned to shut down the genset and make maintenance during the National Day holiday.

After receiving the call, YCMGP immediately arranged personnel to go there. He Zhenhua, a service technician, set off early in the morning of September 30. When he arrived at a hotel near the paper company that night, it was already over 11 p.m.

At 7:00 on October 1, with the alarm clock ringing, He Zhenhua immediately got up and rushed to the paper company in Tai'an. While enjoying the large steamed buns, a specialty of Shandong Province, he contacted Mr. Guo, who works at a service station of Yuchai in Tai'an. He Zhenhua had contacted Mr. Guo last night. At 7:50, he arrived at the paper company and met Mr. Guo.

This gas engine set is Yuchai's first YC12VCN biogas engine. Mr. Guo was responsible for the maintenance of the engine. He Zhenhua is responsible for collecting data and recording the use of parts and components.

When Mr. Guo opened the throttle and flame arrester, a lot of black dust was found. He Zhenhua carefully analyzed the data, carefully checked the installation of the air and fuel system of the whole machine, and drew the conclusion that the air quality of the site was not good and the fuel-air source was not clean. In order to solve this problem, he immediately asked the relevant technicians of the power station to communicate on-site.

With excellent maintenance technology and skilled maintenance methods, Mr. Guo quickly completed the maintenance. After he went around the engine and checked that there was no problem, he turned on the power and started the engine. When the engine speed is up to 200 RPM, the screen shows the alarm of failure to start.

At this time, Mr. Gu, the head of the power station, who had been outside, suddenly came over and said to He Zhenhua, "Mr. He, can the engine be turned on normally? Is methane being discharged into the atmosphere?"

Listening to his words, He Zhenhua was very nervous, thinking that this would cause serious greenhouse effect. He tried his best to hide his nervousness, suppressed his thumping heartbeat, and slowly calm down to straighten out his thoughts. Combined with the daily operating conditions of the faulty unit, he used a multimeter to check each line one by one. After a while, he succeeded in finding out the fault and eliminating the fault.

At that moment, He Zhenhua was relieved and his mood suddenly brightened. Knowing that He Zhenhua is the engineer sent by Yuchai's headquarters, Mr. Gu, the head of the power station, was very enthusiastic. On September 23, the first LNG-powered cement tanker equipped with YC6TDN marine propulsion engine and YC6JN auxiliary and single-fuel engine was put on trial at Chenglong Shipyard in Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. In order to set a good example of the gas marine engine in the Pearl River Basin, all the technical development, supporting design, and technical service personnel of YCMGP came to the site to ensure a smooth trial run. The commissioning was normal in the days leading up to the trial and ship inspection, but there was a hiccup on the day of the trial.

On that day, during the sea trial, when the YC6TDN main engine power was pulled to more than 1,400 to 1,500 rpm, the sudden throttle turbocharger surged. The same situation occurred on both marine propulsion engines. Since it was the first trial of the ship carrying Yuchai‘s gas engine, many customers and shipyard personnel were present, as well as the leaders of the local shipping inspection bureau. Therefore, it could also be said that this was a show of Yuchai's gas engine, attracting great attention.

Li Qingfei, a development engineer of performance electronically-control engines of YCMGP, bent down to collect comparison data in a narrow and sultry cabin. His clothes were soaked due to maintaining a posture for a long time, but he ignored it completely. He came to the conclusion after analysis: when the throttle suddenly decreases from more than 60% to 0, the value 1 suddenly decreases and the throttle suddenly closes, resulting in the turbocharger surge due to the triggering of the integral reset function. By optimizing the integral reset function and testing again, the surge did not occur again, and the problem was successfully solved.

The YC6JN auxiliary engine stopped due to an alarm of high water temperature in the process of parallel power generation. The technical service personnel of YCMGP checked the waterway and found that there was no abnormality in high- and low-temperature water. After running again, it was found that when the YC6TDN main engine was powered up to high speed, the water quantity at the outlet of the seawater pump suddenly became smaller, resulting in insufficient water intake in the sea water pump, resulting in high-temperature alarm and shutdown. After communication with the shipyard, it is confirmed that it is caused by supporting factors, which can be solved by rectifying the inlet pipe.

From 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., after one-day testing, all test indexes of YC6TDN marine propulsion engine and YC6JN auxiliary and single-fuel engine met the requirements of the shipping test program and were unanimously recognized by the shipowner, shipyard, and ship inspection bureau.
