On September 16, the 1100t jack-up wind turbine installation platform equipped with the YC16VC marine genset for the first time was successfully commissioned in Chongming Island, Shanghai, and successfully sailed to Huizhou, Guangdong.

The jack-up wind turbine installation platform combines the advantages of a jack-up platform and a floating crane. It is a ship specially designed and built for offshore wind turbine installation. With a certain navigation speed and maneuverability, the platform can transport multiple wind turbines simultaneously, reducing the reliance on ports. Additionally, the platform is equipped with large cranes and piling equipment specially designed for wind turbine installation. This enables it to operate efficiently under harsh weather and sea conditions, ensuring fast installation.

The jack-up wind turbine installation platform has a total length of 105m and a width of 45m. It is equipped with five YC16VC marine gensets to provide power for the platform during navigation and operation. The installation platform is equipped with two full-revolving propellers, one at the bow and one at the stern, with a full-load power of 7,400 kW. This allows the platform to reach a maximum navigation speed of 7 knots. Additionally, the platform can operate at a maximum water depth of 60m and has a maximum lifting capacity of 1,100t. These features demonstrate the strong power and sufficient torque of the YC16VC marine genset. Previously, customers were skeptical of Chinese brands and relied on imported brands to provide the primary power for wind turbine platforms. Through this application, customers witnessed the extraordinary strength of the Chinese brand and were very satisfied with the quality of Yuchai brand.

As the successful application of Yuchai's engine in a jack-up wind turbine installation platform has become widely known in Jiangsu and Shanghai, major ship design institutes have inquired about Yuchai's marine engines, laying a good foundation for Yuchai products to enter the wind turbine installation platform market. At present, some customers have learned about the details of the YC12VC series engines from Guangxi Yuchai Marine and Genset Power Co., Ltd. and have expressed a strong intention to purchase.
