National Science and Technology Worker Day in Guangxi and the 2nd Guangxi Youth Science and Technology Innovation Autonomous Region Chairman Award Commendation (第二届广西青少年科技创新自治区主席奖) were held in Guangxi Science and Technology Museum on May 30, 2022. Li Wei, Deputy Director of the R&D Center of Guangxi Yuchai Marine and Genset Power Co., Ltd., was awarded the 3rd Guangxi Innovation Award (第三届广西创新争先奖) and the Excellent Engineer Award, and was the only engineer in Yulin this year to win the honorary title of "Guangxi Excellent Engineer". Liu Pengfei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Yulin Municipal Committee, paid a visit to Li Wei on the afternoon of May 30.

The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Innovation Award (including the Guangxi Excellent Engineer Award) is a talent award jointly developed by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Science and Technology Association, Department of Science and Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the  Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region with the approval of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It aims to commend the front-line sci-tech workers and teams in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region that have made outstanding achievements in striving for innovation and promoting the development of technological innovation. Guangxi Science and Technology Innovation Excellence Award (广西创新争先奖)has been launched since 2018 and is selected every two years. A total of 10 teams and 30 individuals for innovation excellence award and 30 Guangxi Excellent Engineer Awards were selected.

Li Wei, Senior Engineer, Deputy Director of R&D Center of Guangxi Yuchai Marine and Genset Power Co., Ltd. and Chief Technical Engineer of Platform C Machine Design. Li Wei landed a job in Yuchai after graduation in 2005 when Yuchai started its development in the field of Marine & G-Drive Engine. He witnessed and participated in the development and prosperity of Guangxi Yuchai Marine and Genset Power Co., Ltd. Li Wei has changed from a layman to an expert after years of dedicated research and development. The team led by him has completed the design and development of six in-line electronically-control high-power engines from YC6CL to YC8CAX , with the product power ranging from 1,000 horsepower to 2,200 horsepower. He was an organizer and participant in the design and development of high-speed and high-power engines for in-line and V-type electronically-control engines such as YC6TF, YC12VC and YC16VTD. Many technologies broke the monopoly of foreign technologies and filled the industry gap, promoting the localization of key core parts. These changes will enhance Yuchai's market influence in the field of Marine & G-Drive Engine in China.

Li Wei has delved into relevant knowledge and gained rich experience. In addition to 128 authorized patents, he won the first prize of Guangxi Science and Technology Award for technological invention, the special prize of Guangxi Patent Award, and China Patent Awards of Excellence. He has also won honorary titles such as the most beautiful scientific and technological worker in Yulin City, a Chinese enterprise innovation expert in Guangxi Science and Technology Innovation, and May Day Labor Medal of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Li Wei said that he would further strengthen the confidence and determination of sci-tech innovation to first practice Yuchai's development culture, pursue excellence with bravery and strive for innovation, contributing his wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of the company.
