On February 10, the first furnace of liquid iron for casting steel was successfully melted based on the Chinese standard for medium carbon steel and two boxes of cast steel parts were poured on the casting production line of Guangxi Yuchai Marine and Genset Power Co., Ltd. （YCMGP）， marking the first solid step toward the steel casting process. Moreover, the success reflected that Yuchai commanded the cast steel melting technology, rewrote its history of "having iron, but no steel", expanded the customer base and improved the ability to resist risks in the market.

Due to their good mechanical properties, cast steel parts are widely used in various mechanical manufacturing fields and have large market demand and high profit margins. However, as their casting process is hard to control and operate and the requirements for casting materials are high, cast steel parts have always been an insurmountable barrier in the casting industry. To tackle the problem, staff on the casting production line of YCMGP actively thought about many ways. They made a lot of efforts in organizing technicians and operators to learn process manuals, consulting historical records, looking for materials on websites, inviting experts for onsite help, and engaging in practical training in the leading companies in the industry. After three months of continuous hard but ingenious work, the company explored a more environmentally friendly resin-coated sand mixing process for cast steel parts on February 8. Two boxes of molds and four cores were manufactured on February 9, when the furnace lining for steel-making was also made. On February 10, the molds and cores were assembled to melt the first furnace of liquid iron for casting steel, which was finally poured into two boxes of cast steel parts.
