Yuchai Service Withstanding High Temperatures

On June 14, the temperature soared to 37°C for the third consecutive day, setting a new record. The heat outdoors was blistering.

From July 1, the subsidy of Guangdong Province for ships with gas engines will be cut in half. As a result, there has been a significant increase in the number of ships equipped with Yuchai gas engines slated for delivery in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province. Major shipyards were expediting their commissioning processes. In Shaoguan alone, 13 ships were scheduled for commissioning and delivery. This tight schedule and heavy workload presented a challenge for Guangxi Yuchai Marine and Genset Power Co., Ltd. (YCMGP)。

After continuous efforts by the service personnel from YCMGP and the Yuchai Service Station, only 4 ships remained awaiting commissioning as of June 14.

The small, stuffy cabin felt like a natural oven. Our engineers toiled here, sweat streaming down their backs.

The sea trials of the first three ships proceeded smoothly. However, during the sea trial of the last ship, the gearbox of the 6TDN engine failed to return to the neutral position after gear engagement and remained engaged in the forward gear. This posed a significant potential safety hazard for navigation. If the issue could not be resolved promptly, the ship survey bureau would cancel the sea trial, requiring the customer to schedule a new application. Consequently, the delivery would be delayed, causing the customer to miss out on subsidies.

At this critical moment, Yuchai adhered to the philosophy of "customer first", thinking for customers, and responding to their needs. With the consent of the gearbox manufacturer and authorization for temporary troubleshooting, supported by written documentation, Engineer Wang from the Yuchai Marine & G-drive Engine Service Station in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, voluntarily undertook the troubleshooting.

Wang toiled here, drenched in sweat. Drawing on his technical expertise and extensive practical experience, Wang determined after just half an hour of troubleshooting that the fault stemmed from the failure of the gearbox's electric control valve reversing device to pop up normally.

After replacing the electric control valve, the fault was eliminated, and the sea trial proceeded smoothly.

After several days of commissioning, all test indicators for the 13 ships equipped with Yuchai gas engines in Shaoguan met the requirements of the shipping test program. These ships successfully passed the ship survey and certification, culminating in the successful completion of their sea trials.

During this commissioning service, Yuchai's service personnel looked at the big picture. Despite the sweltering heat, they carried out the commissioning with full dedication and efficiency, perfectly embodying the service philosophy of "Yuchai Service, Worry-free and Fast." Their efforts received high praise from the shipowner, the ship survey bureau, and the shipyard.
